First-time parents in the heart of Park Slope seek an experienced Nighttime Newborn Care Specialist to support their baby arriving in mid-June 2026. The primary focus of this role is overnight care, allowing parents to rest while ensuring the infant’s feeding, soothing, and sleep needs are expertly managed.
The mother will be on maternity leave for the first three months, and the father will be home for two weeks following the birth. The family is seeking a calm, knowledgeable professional who can confidently guide them through the early newborn phase and establish healthy nighttime sleep foundations.
This is initially a six-month contract with the potential to extend based on mutual fit and family needs.

Responsibilities
• Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate overnight newborn care
• Manage nighttime feedings (breastmilk and/or formula as applicable), including proper bottle preparation and sanitation
• Diapering, soothing, and responding appropriately to infant cues
• Support healthy sleep shaping and age-appropriate overnight routines
• Maintain detailed logs of feedings, sleep patterns, and diapering
• Educate parents on newborn sleep biology and nighttime structuring
• Maintain a quiet, calm, and orderly overnight environment
• Ensure safe sleep practices at all times
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Nighttime Newborn Care Specialist with extensive overnight experience and a strong understanding of infant sleep science. They are patient, adaptable, and confident handling fluctuating newborn patterns.
This professional should be compassionate, steady, and capable of guiding parents through the early months with reassurance and expertise. Flexibility during periods of regression or growth spurts is essential.
Requirements
• 10+ years of professional newborn care experience
• Demonstrated experience with overnight newborn contracts
• Strong background in sleep shaping and healthy sleep foundations
• CPR and First Aid certified
• Fluent in English (Spanish a plus)
• Professional, discreet, reliable, and an excellent communicator
